• Engelberg – Titlis 3020m

Whiiiii. This is how my current commute looks like, on a sunny day. Or well the train I don’t take every day, but the Titlisbahn gondola is my transport for 5days a week.

Could be worse. Both the views and work.

Here’s mountains (Titlis 3020m), glaciers, excellent freeskiing and climbing, ok biking, hiking and trailrunning, fun international community and Engelberg Abbey (benedictine monastery founded in 1120) which more or less nicely keeps me on time – with the first bells at 5 am.

Currently it’s the last days of skiing season (traces in the pics) and then it’s the shoulder season from April to early June, with plenty of work before the trails for the summer are their best.

In other words, stay tuned for best of central Switzerland. More stories coming asap.

    Engelberg Tiina Kivelä

Spring, what a great time for big changes. And so, finally, I’m going to the big mountains, to the Angel Mountain aka Engelberg. Leaving this disneyland’ish town for a cute little village below mighty mountains and glaciers.

Honestly though, I didn’t imagine at 30 I would be moving to a mountain resort for seasonal work. I mean, by now I should have a shiny career and life settled. (Maybe, not so sure really, finding enough meaning and development options from other stuff too. Luckily.)

But here I am, excited to see what Engelberg is really about. And Central Switzerland in general.

Maybe, hopefully, I finally learn to climb. And the altitude should do more than good to my fitness.

When the summer comes, I most likely will be also found few times in Luzern swimming in those waters.

To the new adventures – and mountain pics coming soon.

    Tiina Kivelä St. Gallen

Ps. In addition to Disneyland I also call St. gallen open air museum. Why? Because the good cafés in there are closed on Mondays. And mountains if something require good coffee. The Museums on the other hand are more than ok to be closed on Monday.

And when visiting St. Gallen or Lucerne and looking for an excellent veggie (& appr. 80% vegan) breakfast, lunch, dinner or take away in these, try Tibits. In both places it’s conveniently by the main railway station or near it and offers the best veggie buffet (pay per ounce) and even a desert buffet .

So no excuses for the burger king. Except sometimes. To keep it balanced.
